City for Citizens, Citizens for City
KC Dunaj, Bratislava
24 - 27/03, 10 am - 5 pm
The conference discussed cities, online and offline activism that improves them, and meaningful cooperation between municipalities, private and non-profit sector, and public.
We all want to live in cities which are visually appealing, cultural, accessible, affordable and safe. In cities which are inclusive and remember each and every inhabitant no matter what socio-economic group s/he represents. We all want to live in cities that are well governed, and where same rules applies to everyone. Can we say this about our cities? How are our cities? What data do we collect about them? Can better data make the cities better?
Public spaces witnessed revolutions, generations enjoying leisure, hustle and bustle of working days. They have a potential to accommodate needs of diverse groups of inhabitants. Is this potential fully used? Who should be involved in decision-making concerning public space? Is it possible for the private sector to participate in the public space design without losing the " publicness"? Who identifies himself/herself with public space – municipality, public or is it a no man's land? Is cooperation between all these groups possible? What is the role of an individual and what can s/he change?
Our guests tried to respond these and many other questions. Participants could join and listen to interesting presentations, join discussions with representatives of municipalities and learn something new at various workshops.
